Miami Heat’s Chris Bosh Gets To Eye What Could’ve Been His Future With Houston Rockets

Either way the summer of 2014 turned out, Chris Bosh’s world would have felt like it was hit by a serious case of déjà vu.

If LeBron James stayed in South Beach, he would have continued to be the third wheel on a championship Miami Heat team. If James left for Cleveland, as he did, Bosh would run to the Houston Rockets and become their third wheel to potentially get James Harden and Dwight Howard over the hump to the Finals.

Maybe he would even use his free throw shooting and scoring ability to bump himself closer to the No. 2 that people originally thought he was brought to Miami to be before the remaining two became 2010’s Big Three. At least that is what all of the reports said.

It was Bosh’s best bet to get to a fifth consecutive NBA Finals appearance. All he had to do was sign Houston’s four-year, $88 million contract and go back home to Texas. However, making Miami lose another star to a sentimental birthplace story was not his main concern.

“It’s always business,” he said via the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “Nothing is ever personal. I think 100 percent of those dudes would have taken the deal I took.”

In the same breath that Bosh advocates himself getting paid, he will tell you “it’s not always about money.” But it was obvious that Miami’s desperate five-year, $118 million overpayment was of more interest than joining a team that would place him in instant contention.

So as Bosh counts his cash, the two-time champ will spend tonight getting his first look at a Houston team he would have fit perfectly with as the stretch four that the Rockets needed. Now he can only fantasize.
