Although the Detroit Pistons were very inconsistent last season, their future looks bright with the addition of head coach Stan Van Gundy. With Van Gundy, the Pistons added a proven coach to a young roster filled with talent. Can these young Pistons turn that talent into playoff production this season? Or will the Pistons continue to rebuild?

The Pistons lost one of the organization's best guards in the offseason when Chauncey Billups announced his retirement from the NBA. Although Billups only played in 19 games for the Pistons last season, he was very important on the sidelines for point guard Brandon Jennings. The Pistons will look slightly different in the backcourt as Rodney Stuckey, Will Bynum and Peyton Siva have all moved on as well.

The Pitsons added depth to their backcourt in the offseason with the signing of shooting guard Jodie Meeks and point guard D.J. Augustine. The Pistons also added Caron Butler, who should be the vocal leader of the team -- something the Pistons lacked last season.

Brandon Jennings (PG), Kyle Singler (SG), Cartier Martin (SF), Josh Smith (PF), Andre Drummond (C) -- last season the Pistons experimented with Smith playing small forward, but Stan Van Gundy knows Smith is better suited at the power forward. Fans should expect a breakout year from Drummond under Van Gundy.

If the Pistons go with the starting lineup mentioned before they will have a pretty deep bench. Greg Monroe may be trade bait but he should be the first off the bench. Caron Butler will also see starter minutes if he can stay healthy throughout the entire season. Jodie Meeks will pair with second-year guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to give Detroit two legit three-point shooters on the perimeter, and D.J. Augustine will backup Brandon Jennings.

It's hard to tell how successful the Detroit Pistons will be because they are a young and unpredictable team. If Stan Van Gundy can get the Pistons to rotate the ball and play an inside-out game, the team will be much-improved.

2014-15 Prediction: 38-44
