The hopes of everything that Chicago Bulls want to accomplish in the 2014-15 NBA season undoubtedly rest on the health of Derrick Rose. Him reinjuring his knee is what derailed last season for them and what killed their playoff run the season before. Now he’s healthy and ready to lead his team to a possible title.
However, there was a moment on Friday night as the Bulls took on the Cleveland Cavaliers in a titanic early Eastern Conference battle that everything seemed like it could be crashing down. As Rose was hobbled and then later went back to the locker room, every Bulls fan in the world had to have their head in their hands thinking “not again.”
The good news is that it doesn’t appear to be anything serious. It was said on the ESPN broadcast that the word from the locker room is that Rose had suffered a sprained ankle. After the game, Rose commented on it saying that it was minor, that he will travel to Minnesota, that he’s walking around, and that “everyone can breathe.”
You hear him Bulls fans; breathe.
This is the best Bulls roster that the organization has ever put around Rose and they could be successful even without the superstar point guard. However, they go from a very quality team in this league without Rose to a title-contender with Rose on the floor. He’s that talented and that important to everything that head coach Tom Thibodeau does with this team.
It would be nice of Rose if he would not give Bulls and basketball fans heart palpitations like he did on Friday night, but it’s good that he’s in positive spirits and optimistic about being back on the floor soon. After how injury-plagued last season was, the Bulls have to be thinking the exact same thing.
