Utah Jazz Should Strongly Consider Trading Enes Kanter

There’s a lot to like if you’re a fan of the Utah Jazz. The team has assembled a solid young core, but the only problem is that they have a ways to go in order to be a true contender for an NBA title.

Enes Kanter is one of the talented young players on the Jazz, but an area of improvement for him is consistency. Kanter’s night-to-night production varies way too much, and as a result, the Jazz are reluctant to give him major minutes (19 minutes per game so far this season) even though he has a high ceiling and the ability to put up 20 points and 10 rebounds each game (12.3 PPG and 7.5 REB per game average in the 2013-2014 season). Right now, the Jazz are loaded with young players like Gordon Hayward, Derrick Favors and the newly drafted Dante Exum. There are certainly pieces in place for the future, but it’s hard to build a team solely based on inexperienced players with upside.

If the Jazz were to put Kanter on the market, they would be sure to get a lot of interest. It is not easy finding a big man in the NBA, especially one with the ability to put up a double-double on a nightly basis. Kanter needs to go to a team with a veteran presence and a situation that can help him develop his game over time. As for the Jazz, they need a true veteran point guard because just like Kanter, point guard Trey Burke is another budding talent, but he has consistency problems as well.

If the Jazz are sitting around .500 come the trade deadline, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them put their 22-year-old center on the block. Even though the team has a great nucleus of players, fans may grow impatient of this team if they don’t grow up fast.
