The Los Angeles Lakers’ early-season schedule has been positively brutal, with two sets of back-to-backs against four legitimate playoff/title contenders. The games don’t get any easier, however, so here are the five best shots at the Lakers’ first win of 2014.

Yes, the Phoenix Suns ran them off the court in their first matchup of the season, but that was on the second night of a back-to-back. The Lakers are by no stretch of the imagination a favorite, but have played better for parts of their last two games and might be able to squeak out a win at home against one of the few non-playing teams they’ll play these first couple months.

New Orleans features Anthony Davis, who is widely considered the league’s most exciting, young player. That being said, the Pelicans are very young across the roster and might stumble playing away from home. The Lakers' unproven frontcourt would definitely need to step up against Davis and Omer Asik, who have complemented each other incredibly well thus far.

Yes, we need to look almost to the end of the second month of the season to find another legitimate opportunity to get a win – that’s how tough the Lakers’ schedule has been. They’ve already beaten the Denver Nuggets once (albeit in the preseason), and Denver has historically struggled away from home.

To say Charlotte has struggled to score the ball is quite the understatement. It also appears they’ll have to play at least a couple games without their Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who’s shown tremendous improvement in his all-around. This is one of the few games the Lakers might actually be favored in Las Vegas, but only marginally, at best.

I mean, someone has to win these, right? Can we get them televised?
