Christmas Day is a big day for the NBA, and they always schedule a great slate of games. This year NBA fans will be treated to Oklahoma City Thunder at San Antonio Spurs, Cleveland Cavaliers at Miami Heat, Washington Wizards at New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers at Chicago Bulls and Golden State Warriors at Los Angeles Clippers. But the jerseys players and fans will be subjected to this year are horrific.
On Friday the NBA released the style of the 10 uniforms that teams will wear on Christmas Day. The backs of the jerseys will feature players’ first names, under their number, while the front of the jerseys will showcase each team’s logo instead of the team’s name or city, as jerseys normally do. The designs for the front of the jerseys are not terrible, but the backs of the jerseys are awful.
Who designed these? Who will buy these eyesores? Fans will be able to purchase these hideous Adidas produced jerseys for the bargain price of $110.00. The backs of these jerseys seriously look like someone at Adidas had their four-year-old create the design.
Is anyone else reminded of Al Czervik’s (played by the late Rodney Dangerfield) line in “Caddyshack” when he’s in the pro shop with Judge Smails?
“Oh, this is the worst-looking hat I ever saw. What, when you buy a hat like this I bet you get a free bowl of soup, huh?”
[looks at Judge Smails who is wearing the same hat]
“Oh, it looks good on you though.”
At least these jerseys are sleeveless, unlike last year’s jerseys which were t-shirt style. What basketball player wants any kind of sleeves on their jersey? The answer is none. At the end of the day is this the biggest deal in the world? No, but it’s a stupid gimmick created by the NBA to make more money. That isn’t a crime, but the jerseys are just so ugly.
