Joakim Noah’s Comments On Derrick Rose Are Completely Justified

For some reason when teammates stick up for each other in the media, everyone gets surprised. Shouldn’t that be how all teammates treat each other? After all, it shows that you have each other’s backs. However, for some reason, Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah is taking some heat for comments he made following his team’s 100-93 win over the Toronto Raptors.

After Derrick Rose went down with another injury in the win, this time a hamstring, all members of the Bulls were asked about the ups and downs of the season and facing the frustration of Rose’s injury history. Noah, as usual, spoke up in defense of his teammate.

“…he’s coming back from two crazy surgeries. Obviously we’re being conservative with him, and when things aren’t going right, he’s got to listen to his body more than anybody. So everybody needs to chill the f— out.”

Noah is completely justified in his comments. He’s out there working his butt off every single day and he has to keep answering questions about his teammate’s commitment? He’s obviously going to get frustrated. He’s played with Rose for seven seasons, so he’s going to take exception when he thinks people are taking shots at Rose.

His points are also valid. It’s Rose’s body. Whether people like the way he’s been handling his situation or not, he needs to take care of his body and respond accordingly. Unfortunately, he’s been extremely fragile lately, but he just has to try and ride it out.

With Noah as the vocal leader of the team, Rose just needs to stay healthy and produce. If he does that, with the Bulls’ depth, the sky is the limit. Comments from Noah like this will fire up the team and band them together. As a cohesive unit blocking out the distractions, the Bulls have as good a chance as anyone to claim the NBA title.
