Los Angeles Clippers' Broken Trust

The Los Angeles Clippers have not been playing up to their potential since the season started. They are losing big leads too late in the game to recover and it is resulting in both dumb and heartbreaking losses. A reason for the Clippers’ struggles could be the team’s trust issues.

The Clippers are a close team. The players spend a lot of time together and they’ve developed friendships both on and off the court, but the trust, or lack thereof, is taking a toll on the team’s efficiency during games.

“I think we trust each other as players, but I think we haven’t really gotten to that point where when we miss shots or get scored on it doesn’t matter,” Blake Griffin said to the Los Angeles Media. “We haven’t really gotten to that point of where we were last year.”

The Clippers didn’t lose many or add very many players to their roster during the offseason so their lack of trust must be coming from both the new and old players. Although Griffin, Chris Paul and Doc Rivers said the trust issues are solely an on court struggle, the trust issues must start from a personal standpoint.

There is a noticeable change in camaraderie amongst the players, which has affected their game play. The Clippers have recently gotten the reputation of being one of the closest teams in the league, but the obvious dissention displayed amongst the members of the team are making people doubt how close the Clippers have become.

Whatever the issue may be and wherever the broken trust has come from, the Clippers’ current road trip could help fix their woes. Playing on the road is always a struggle in the league, but teams that are confident and trust each other can win on the road. Hopefully the Clippers can find their identity throughout this road trip and mend the trust problems that have risen.
