With LeBron James leaving in free agency, the Miami Heat have lost a step. With James leaving, the Heat have had to rely on Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh so far in the young NBA season. While the duo is definitely a good one, the Heat simply don’t have enough talent to keep up with the Chicago Bulls, Washington Wizards and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference. With all of that being said, the Heat should Wade a favor and trade him to a contender.
In the Eastern Conference, the Heat will obviously make the playoffs. In fact, the Heat will likely finish in the Top-4 of the conference, but the fact of that matter is that the Heat don’t have enough firepower. Instead of wasting a year of his remaining value, the Heat would benefit greatly by trading away Wade.
Not only does he have ongoing problems with his knees, but Wade’s contract is bad. The Heat will pay Wade $15 million this season and $16 million in 2015. With two years left on his deal, the Heat need to start focusing on the future. By trading Wade away, the Heat will get two, or even three, quality draft picks, as well as some fill-in players. Life after Wade is around the corner. By trading away Wade, the Heat will be bad in the short-term, but long-term, this team will be set up for future success. The good news is that Bosh is still young and he is worth building around. The Heat would be wise to trade away Wade. The rebuilding process needs to start in Miami.
