Miami Heat’s Season Could Quickly Hit New Lows

Sad days are on the horizon for the Miami Heat – days that look like they will turn into a season involving not much more than a 41-41 record, if not worse.

This may seem like an overreaction to a few early struggles, but what the old champs don’t have in common with a struggling team like the Cleveland Cavaliers is the hope of having healthy players who are expected to eventually pull together. Yet, people will wonder how severe it could really be.

Well, it could be as ugly as it was against the Los Angeles Clippers on a Thursday night where they gave up a first-quarter total of 11 assists, forced no turnovers and went down by a very quick 24 points. And it was all fueled by the normal nonchalant Heat habits. There was no ball movement while everyone sat on the perimeter trying to win the game on their own. That’s what fans call classic Miami hero ball, without the Batman and Robin that they have become use to over the years.

As a result, the Clippers were all fast breaks, dunks and 3-pointers. They made things look so easy that you might have thought you were watching the Washington Generals “play” the Harlem Globetrotters. Miami knew exactly what was coming, but they just watched the fun and smiles like they were fine being part of the show.

The only thing missing was the bucket of water that was supposed to be confused for confetti. Besides that, the contest was a clown-fest for Miami. But maybe they couldn’t help it; perhaps they’re just not that good of a basketball team yet.

Hopefully the yet applies.
