A month of NBA basketball is in the books, and teams are starting to show fans who they really are. The 76ers are on a historically bad pace, while the Warriors and Grizzlies are an absolute roll. The Nuggets are making noise after a horrific first two weeks, and the Clippers are finally starting to pull things together.

The Knicks lost every game they played this week, including an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Russell Westbrook. They are bad at every aspect of the game right now.

28. Los Angeles Lakers (4-13), Last Week: 27

If you like the circus, then you'll love the Lakers this year because that's pretty much what's going on in L.A.

Zach LaVine appears like he could become a truly dominant player. Wiggins is picking up his level of play also. Not much else going right in Minnesota.

Eight losses in a row and counting.

It was an ugly week for the Celtics, with three of four of their losses coming at home.

The Hornets have now suffered nine losses in a row, as Lance and Kemba just cannot figure out how to play together.

Things started out bright for the Jazz, but have only gone downhill since. Quin Snyder is starting to lose his mind a bit after five losses in a row.

Russell Westbrook is back, and the Knicks were his unfortunate victim. Prepare for this team to rise up the rankings.

The Nets got back into the win column this week, but it was against the 76ers and a depleted Thunder squad. Nothing is changing in Brooklyn yet.

20. Orlando Magic (7-12), Last Week: 18

The Magic lost five straight and struggled to score the ball over that stretch. They did beat the Suns to snap that losing streak, but still only scored 93 points.

The Pacers are remaining competitive in the East, and they are actually getting some of their players back too. If the playoffs started today, they’d amazingly be the eighth seed.

18. New Orleans Pelicans (7-8), Last Week: 13

The Pelicans have lost five of out their last seven. Anthony Davis continues his MVP play, but it may be all for naught if the other Pelicans can’t pick up their level of play.

17. Atlanta Hawks (9-6), Last Week: 16

Winners of four of their last five, the Hawks finally seem to be putting things together. If Al Horford can ever get back to his former self, these Hawks could be scary.

16. Cleveland Cavaliers (8-7), Last Week: 17

Things seem to be starting to click for the Cavs, which is a scary proposition for the rest of the East. They have looked much more like the Cavs everyone expected entering the season in their last three games.

15. Denver Nuggets (8-8), Last Week: 19

The Nuggets have won seven of their last 9, and are becoming the team many thought they’d be. A tough three-game east coast road trip this week should tell fans where this team really stands.

14. Milwaukee Bucks (10-8), Last Week: 15

"Fear the deer" is really becoming a legitimate sentiment. If the playoffs started today, the Bucks would be the fifth seed in the East. Who saw that coming?

13. Miami Heat (9-7), Last Week: 14

The Heat held things down while Dwyane Wade was out, but he was a welcome sight in his return to action on Sunday night, and boy did he deliver.

12. Sacramento Kings (9-8), Last Week: 11

The Kings are coming back down to earth after their scorching start. I imagine that this is closer to the the team we will see the rest of the season.

I'm still not sure how Isaiah Thomas is going to work on this team, but they sure are fun to watch. Oh, and they may need a big man eventually as well.

10. Washington Wizards (10-5), Last Week: 9

Losses to the Hawks and Cavs this week should be a slight cause for concern for the Wizards. Another easy stretch of schedule coming up should allow them to add to the win column.

9. Chicago Bulls (11-6), Last Week: 8

When Derrick Rose plays, this team is virtually unstoppable. Of course, nobody knows when or if he will actually play on any given day, and therefore we don’t know which Bulls team will show up either.

8. Los Angeles Clippers (11-5), Last Week: 10

The Clippers won every game on their four-game road swing, and it actually seemed to galvanize them. It may have been just what they needed.

7. Portland Trail Blazers (13-4), Last Week: 6

7. Portland Trail Blazers (13-4), Last Week: 6

The Blazers had their nine-game win streak snapped this week at the hands of the Grizzlies, but there’s nothing to worry about. The Blazers are one of the best teams in the league.

6. Dallas Mavericks (13-5), Last Week: 7

The Mavericks continue to be far and away the best offensive team in the league. Despite their lackluster performance against the Pacers this week, the Mavs are a legitimate contender.

5. Houston Rockets (13-4), Last Week: 4

Somehow, even without Dwight in the lineup, the Rockets continue to win games. They are shooting threes at a historic clip and playing good defense. James Harden is showing he is a true MVP candidate.

4. Toronto Raptors (13-4), Last Week: 3

Their six-game win streak was snapped with a home loss to the Mavericks, but the Raptors are still the class of the east. For now. We’ll find out a lot about them as they set out on the road, especially without DeRozan. Things didn't start off so well in L.A.

3. San Antonio Spurs (12-4), Last Week: 5

The Spurs have won seven straight. Nothing new to see here. The Spurs do what the Spurs do.

With nine games in a row, things continue to roll in Oakland.

The Grizzlies continue to grind out wins, and Gasol is entering my book as the MVP front-runner.
