Dwyane Wade Shows He’s Still Dominant In Miami Heat Win
The Miami Heat were able clinch their fifth road win of the season by dispatching Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks, 86-79. Although it was an extremely sloppy game from both teams, it featured the return of Dwyane Wade for the Heat after missing the last seven games due to a severe hamstring injury and showcased just how much Wade has left in the tank. In Wade’s absence, the Heat went 3-4 over those seven games, proving how valuable his playmaking abilities are.
Wade finished the night with 27 points, five rebounds and five assists while shooting over 50 percent from the field. The only real blemish in his return game was the seven turnovers he had, but a lot of that can be attributed to getting back into rhythm after missing so much time.
What really mattered was how he took over the fourth quarter, almost reassuring the world that he is still an alpha dog player in this league and can still dominate a game when need be. Wade scored 14 of his 27 points in that decisive fourth quarter, killing any momentum the Knicks might have had to try and get back into the game.
The Heat need Wade playing at this high of a level in order to keep this team afloat; there is no doubt about it. Chris Bosh may also be an elite player, but he still doesn’t have the domination factor that Wade possesses that makes him so valuable.
The question now is, how many games will Wade be able to play the remainder of the season? Obviously no one, not even Wade himself, can answer this question, but its answer will determine how successful the Heat are the rest of the regular season — and more importantly throughout the playoffs. One thing is for sure: Wade reminded everyone last night that he still one of the best players in the NBA and can carry any team to victory on his shoulders.
