The Golden State Warriors have shocked NBA fans all over so far this season. The Warriors are currently on a 10-game winning streak and they are becoming the NBA’s most talked about team. The Warriors have been blowing teams out of the water since Nov. 13, much to the surprise of many NBA fans.
The Warriors only have two losses this season, and as impressive as that is, the winning streak will come to an end. As exciting as this time has been for the Warriors, it’s inevitable that eventually they will lose. The Warriors put themselves in a sticky predicament on Tuesday night in a game against the Orlando Magic. The Warriors came back to win the game after being down nine points late in the fourth quarter. If the Warriors can nearly lose a game to a 7-13 Magic squad, their winning streak may be coming to an end sooner than Warriors fans are hoping.
In the 10-game winning streak the Warriors are on, there was only one team in the bunch that currently has an above .500 record. The Warriors beat a Dwyane Wade-less Miami Heat team, but the rest of the teams in their streak are well below a .500 record.
The Warriors next seven games feature four teams that are above .500. The New Orleans Pelicans, who they play twice in the next seven games, sit at .500. The next seven games for the Warriors will be hard fought, especially since just two of them will be played on Warriors ground.
The Warriors streak could end on Dec. 6 when they play the Chicago Bulls. Whether or not Derrick Rose is in the lineup, the Bulls have persevered and put themselves in playoff position. The Bulls know how to win without a floor general and having a one-man defense machine in Joakim Noah could be worrisome for the Warriors. Although the Bulls will pose the earliest threat to stop the streak at 11, the Warriors have a good chance of flying past an 11-7 Bulls team.
The streak will most likely end on Dec. 16 against the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies have been the other surprise team in the West. Not only do the Grizzlies have the best record in the conference, they have the best record in the league. The Grizzlies, who will be playing at home, have yet to lose a game on their home court. It doesn’t seem likely that the Warriors can withstand the current best team in the league, especially on the road after having played four teams with much better records than any team in their current winning streak.
If the Warriors lose to the Grizzlies, their win streak will end at 16 games, which would be the longest winning streak in franchise history. So far, the Warriors have outplayed a handful of teams, but none of them can match the Warriors upcoming schedule.
