After Monday night’s game against the Phoenix Suns, Blake Griffin made his case as the Los Angeles Clippers‘ MVP so far this season. A power forward hitting a game-winning three0pointer is impressive, but the fact that it came from Griffin is amazing. That shot catapulted Griffin away from the group of best power forwards in the league to the best power forward in the league.
Griffin has worked hard each offseason to improve his game, and so far in 2014-15 it has paid off. Griffin has become a well-rounded player. He has changed fans from cringing when he heads to the free-throw line to cheering when he stands at the stripe. Griffin is no longer just a threat on the boards; he has picked up his offensive game as well. This season alone he has proven he cannot only posterize a player with an emphatic dunk, but he can also hit a shot that will stun every person who witnessed it.
Griffin is averaging 24 points per game this season, three points higher than his career average, and nearly 74 percent from the free-throw line, a career best. Griffin’s worst game so far this season was in a loss against the Memphis Grizzlies where he still recorded 12 points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal.
Griffin’s presence is consistently felt when he is on the court. Every second of the game Griffin is on the floor, he is producing for the Clippers. The impact he has made this season not only makes him the Clippers’ MVP so far but a real candidate for league MVP.
