Chris Paul has been considered one of the best point guards in basketball since he came in the league back in 2005. He regularly scores between 17 and 20 points per game while still being close to the top of the ranks in assists. There have been some serious competitors for his throne in recent years. Stephen Curry has been amazing for the Golden State Warriors this season. John Wall is growing into an amazing player in Washington. Damian Lillard, Kyle Lowrie and Kyrie Irving are all up-and-coming superstars. Still, Paul is a clear-cut all-star this season.
Paul may not be the starter thanks to Curry’s season. Curry has been an MVP candidate on the best team in the NBA. It is hard to compete with that.
Paul has some competition for best player on the Los Angeles Clippers. Blake Griffin has been one of the most marketable superstars the past few years. He has really harnessed his true talent. DeAndre Jordan has become one of the best rebounders in the NBA. Jamal Crawford might be the best bench guy in the league.
Despite the amount of talent playing around him, Paul still stands out. He is averaging over 17 points per game this year. He is currently shooting over 50 percent from the field. He is extremely close to the coveted 50/40/90 shooting percentages.
He is doing really well holding onto the ball. His assist-to-turnover ratio is number one in the NBA. He is acting like a veteran this season. He is making sure he focuses on making his teammates better on every play. He knows he can take over a game. Paul wants to help his teammates feel that way as well. He isn’t taking bad shots or making bad passes. Everything Paul does is working .
His pure efficiency is why he is the most deserving Clipper on the All-Star team. He will be in Brooklyn to play for the Western Conference come February.
