Golden State Warriors Rumors: Andrew Bogut Could Miss Extended Time

It’s never been a matter of if Andrew Bogut will go down with an injury, it’s a matter of when. If you had December projected as the month he’d go down this season, congratulations. Bogut is officially headed to the shelf following platelet-rich plasma therapy on his right knee.

PRP therapy has of course been made famous by Kobe Bryant, and Dwight Howard recently spent time on the shelf following the therapy as well. It’s becoming a more popular way to treat ailing knees by the year.

But getting back to Bogut, it appears a bad knee and PRP therapy will keep him out of action for a few weeks.

Here’s what his agent, David Bauman, told ibabuzz.com:

“Thank God it’s nothing major. It’s a temporary setback. I’m not going to say two, three, four weeks, but that’s probably a reasonable assumption if all goes well, and then he’ll return sometime in January.”

It was definitely unreasonable to think Bogut wouldn’t miss extended time this season. At some point, he was going to go down. After all, we’re talking about a guy who hasn’t come close to playing a full season in about seven years. The injury bug has also been an issue with the seven-footer.

But if something had to happen this season, December is about the best possible time. The Golden State Warriors clearly will suffer some without their No. 5, but it’s much better to get that suffering out of the way now (in theory).

Who knows if Bogut will hold up after his return sometime in January, but at least his knee issue was addressed right away with a therapy that gets results.
