The Phoenix Suns have not gotten off to the start that they were hoping for, especially after re-signing Eric Bledsoe to big money and bringing in Isaiah Thomas to give them even more depth at the guard position. However, they are still right in the mix of things in terms of playoff contention, and remain an exciting team to watch. They are not afraid to throw out small, fast lineups, and have several players who can play a multitude of positions. Due to the fact that they have an extremely balanced roster, they might not necessarily have a clear-cut All-Star, but it would not be a surprise should a Suns player earn a spot.

Goran Dragic has not been quite the stud that he was last year, but probably remains one of the team’s two best hopes at an All-Star bid. He has had to share the backcourt with other score-first guards, but he is still averaging over 16 points and four assists per game, while maintaining his efficient shooting. Bledsoe is another talented player averaging over 15 points, while also averaging almost six assists and five rebounds a game. The problem for these two players is that they will be competing with the other talented guards in the Western Conference and might not get as much publicity as some of the other players.

Thomas and Gerald Green are both playing extremely well off of the bench, averaging over 14 points a game apiece. The Morris twins of Marcus and Markieff are also a huge part of the team, averaging a combined 25 points, 10 rebounds and two three-pointers per contest. However, even though these players have had strong starts to the season, it is unlikely that any of them will be playing in the All-Star game.

Green might not be playing in the big game of the weekend, but he is always a strong candidate to participate in the dunk contest with his extreme athleticism. His improving three-point shooting also might net him an invitation to the three-point contest. Bledsoe also has shown a lot of explosiveness and would be interesting to watch in the dunk contest. Lastly, Dragic could be a candidate for the skills competition, as could Thomas.

The Suns have two good candidates for the game, but many of their players could get invites to the other competitions throughout the weekend. They have a lot of talent on their team, and play an entertaining style, but they do not really have anyone that stands out on a night to night basis. As a result, they might not get any players into the main event, but that does not mean that they do not have All-Star caliber players.
