Dream Lineup for the 2015 NBA 3-Point Contest

Each year at the NBA’s All-Star Saturday night, some of the league’s best sharpshooters take to the court and participate in the annual three-point contest. Last year, both the Eastern Conference and Western Conference were represented by four players each. Based on that format, here is a dream lineup for the 2015 NBA Three-Point Contest.

The first representative for the Western Conference is one half of the Golden State Warriors duo known as the “Splash Brothers.” With the fourth most three-point shots made this season, Klay Thompson would not only bring some excellent shooting abilities to the contest, but he would also serve as fresh blood for the annual contest.

After already missing 23 games this season, Kevin Durant finds himself in jeopardy of missing the NBA All-Star game for the first time since 2009. If this becomes the case, the league’s reigning MVP must be involved in the NBA’s biggest weekend one way or another. By having Durant participate in the three-point contest, the event would become that much more important.

With the participants simply just picking up and shooting balls off of a rack, fans don’t really get to see the personalities of the players who take part in the three-point contest. One way to fix this is by adding Nick Young to the field. Without question, Young would make this event a must-watch. Also, with Kobe Bryant missing the actual All-Star game due to injury, Young would give the league’s must illustrious franchise some representation.

What is better than having one “Splash Brother” participate in the NBA Three=Point Contest? How about having both “Splash Brothers” participate in the event. Although he is already playing a prominent role in the actual NBA All-Star Game, the three-point contest would not be complete without Stephen Curry -- arguably the best three-point shooter in the league.

Due to the fact that he has missed nine games this season, Bradley Beal’s shooting numbers may not stand out among other players'. But without a doubt, Beal is one of the best young shooters in the game. After a disappointing performance in last year’s event, Beal would likely be gunning to redeem himself in 2015.

This year, the NBA has elected to hold its annual All-Star weekend in New York – hosting events in both New York City and Brooklyn. Since this is the case, why not add some hometown flavor to All-Star Saturday Night by adding Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony to the three-point contest. As one of the league’s best jumpshooters, Anthony would likely be one of the event’s finalists.

Last year, Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving was the runner-up in the NBA Three-Point Contest behind San Antonio Spurs guard Marco Belinelli. Since he was the runner-up last year, why not have Irving shoot for the title this year?

This year, Kyle Korver is having one of the best shooting seasons in NBA history. Shooting a remarkable 53.5 percent from behind the three-point line, Korver has to be a representative for the Eastern Conference in the 2015 NBA Three-Point Contest.
