5 Players the Detroit Pistons Should Target

When Stan Van Gundy cut Josh Smith loose, the Detroit Pistons elevated to all new heights. The team ripped off a lengthy win streak, but all that momentum was seized when Brandon Jennings tore his Achilles, sidelining him for up to one calendar year. So, Detroit is currently in position to receive a late lottery pick to address any outstanding needs. Keep an eye on the power forward position as Greg Monroe has the right to sign elsewhere.

Andre Drummond's inability to score outside of four feet has really put a damper on Greg Monroe's ability to operate within the paint. Thus, Monroe's numbers are negatively skewed. If Monroe decides to sign with a system that better fits his style of play, drafting Frank Kaminsky could help open up lanes on the floor. Drummond rebounds and dunks, while Kaminsky scores from the outside.

4. Kristaps Porzingis

A highly-touted prospect originating from Latvia, Kristaps Porzingis poses more questions than answers. Recruiting him has been a hassle for NBA scouts and his competition overseas is a bit questionable. Whichever franchise decides to draft him will certainly be taking a tremendous risk. Yet, Porzingis’ upside is sky-high as his body continues to fill out approaching adulthood. He’s a highly skilled offensive player with the skill set of a SF.

3. Myles Turner

Again, contingent on Monroe's offseason plans, Myles Turner would create a Portland Trailblazers dynamic with a traditional power forward and center up front. Turner is not afraid to venture into the mid-range, while Drummond focuses his game on cutbacks, offensive rebounds and slam dunks. At nearly 7-foot tall, Turner combined with Drummond's length would create a scary tandem for opponents lacking size.

2. Kelly Oubre

The Pistons are a highly unproductive offensive team, particularly on the wing. There's no high-flyers, no athletes and no deadly shooters to add excitement. Kelly Oubre Jr. offers all of the above with his personality, athleticism and interesting hairstyle. At a mere 20-years-old, Oubre has plenty of room to evolve into quite the talented player who could contribute to the Pistons for the long-term.

1. Justise Winslow

Van Gundy’s temporary solution for Detroit’s wing issues was an over the hill Tayshaun Prince whose career is rapidly dwindling. Fortunately, the Pistons will end up with a late-lottery pick in perfect position to land Duke’s defensive stopper, Justise Winslow. Much like Prince, Winslow’s offense is unreliable, but his chiseled frame and focus on intangibles will force Pistons’ fans to fall in love with him.

Pistons' Andre Drummond Hits Floor After Being Rejected By Rim

Andre Drummond did his best Carmelo Anthony impression against the New York Knicks on Saturday night. Drummond went up for a massive dunk and was hilariously rejected by the rim. If that wasn't embarrassing enough, he ended up flat on his butt on the Madison Square Garden hardwood.
