Andrew Wiggins justified his status as the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, as he led all rookies in scoring (16.9 points per game) while averaging 4.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and one steal per game.

Here are five reasons Wiggins should win the 2015 NBA Rookie of the Year Award.

Wiggins was asked to guard the other team's best perimeter scorer regularly, and more often than not he held his own.

Wiggins was the only Timberwolf to play all 82 games, and he was the only one on the team to play more than 77 games. He was also second in the entire league in total minutes played with 2,969, which was just 12 less than league leader James Harden.

3. Solid Production All Season

Even during his worst month of the season, Wiggins averaged 12.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.1 steals and one assist per game in November. That scoring average over the full season would have bested both Nikola Mirotic (10.2 points per game) and Nerlens Noel (9.9 points per game), but that would leave out how Wiggins improved over the course of the season.

2. Improvement In-Season

After the All-Star break Wiggins upped his production across the board, averaging 20 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game with a jump in free throw attempts (7.9 per game after the All-Star break, 4.5 per game before) .

Wiggins seemed to respond, subconsciously perhaps, to talk he was not the clear front runner for Rookie of the Year. In eight April games, he scored 22 or more points six times while averaging 23.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, one steal and 10.4 free throw attempts per game over that span.
