There’s no doubt about it: Ricky Rubio trade rumors have been running wild. However, Rubio would be crazy to want a trade right now, which is why I applaud him for wanting to head in the other direction — which is staying put in Minnesota.

If any team is ever going to turn things around in Minnesota, it is going to be the team that features Rookie of the Year Andrew Wiggins and the No. 1 player in the 2015 NBA Draft (either Karl-Anthony Towns or Jahlil Okafor, you be the judge).

When healthy, Rubio, of course, is a starter in this league. Unfortunately, the Timberwolves have not made the playoffs in his time and that was also the case when Kevin Love was on the team.

Until both sides say a Rubio deal is not going to happen, the rumors will continue to swirl.

For what it’s worth, the Timberwolves have the No. 1 pick in this summer’s draft, plenty of young talent and it is only a matter of time before they start making some noise in this league. As a result, Rubio should suit up (in a Minnesota uniform) for a little longer, just to see how things pan out.
