It didn’t look good when Kyrie Irving went down late in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. Our worst fears were confirmed on Friday afternoon when it was released that the Cleveland Cavaliers point guard would miss the remainder of the series with a fractured left kneecap.

Taking down the Golden State Warriors and winning the Finals was already going to be an extremely tough task even with Irving in the lineup. Now with today’s devastating news, it’s nearly impossible to see how the Cavaliers can possibly manage to win more than a game or two.

With Irving out, head coach David Blatt will likely insert Matthew Dellavadova into the starting lineup. On offense in Game 1, it was LeBron James and then a whole lot of standing around by the rest of the Cavaliers team. With Irving sidelined, James has zero reliable help on the offensive end and will somehow have to find a way to do even more for the Cavaliers to win the series.
