Danny Ainge isn’t the only one trying to make big moves for the Boston Celtics this offseason. Isaiah Thomas is now getting into the mix. Along with being the Celtics’ sixth man and fan favorite, Thomas has recently become an avid recruiter.
About a month after the season ended, Ainge and Thomas had a meeting where, according to Thomas, Ainge had encouraged him to share his opinion on any impending free agents. Thomas has since used Twitter as a platform to throw some subliminal recruiting pitches to the likes of LaMarcus Aldridge, Kevin Love and Marc Gasol. At least it appeared that way.
Thomas is now targeting a former teammate.
With the recent turmoil surrounding DeMarcus Cousins and his future with the Sacramento Kings, Thomas used Instagram as yet another recruiting tool to assure Cousins that he has a home in Boston.

If Cousins were a free agent, this comment may hold a little more weight. The only way Cousins will be in green next year is via a trade. Unfortunately for Thomas and the Celtics, teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets appear to be more likely trade partners.
Perhaps he is just laying the groundwork for the future when Cousins becomes a free agent. Thomas seems to like being a Celtic so much that he’s trying to bring his friends. You have to applaud his effort. If Thomas can help deliver a prized free agent to the Celtics, he will forever have a home in Boston.
