Although Karl-Anthony Towns didn’t have the best season of all time in the 2014-15 college basketball season (there were many mouths to feed on the Kentucky Wildcats), he was always in the No. 1 pick of the 2015 NBA Draft conversation. Tonight — even though many fans expected it for quite some time — Mr. Towns fulfilled that destiny when the Minnesota Timberwolves selected him with the very first pick of the draft.
The questions will begin to fly:
Will Towns turn the Timberwolves around? Will he win the Rookie of the Year Award? How long will it take him to become an All-Star. Questions, questions and more questions.
Let me try to predict the answer to all of those bad boys with very simple responses: Yes, yes and two seasons. I know, I know. He hasn’t even touched an NBA court yet in his rocked out Minnesota uniform.
Towns is all about the buzz right now:

Karl-Anthony Towns is the NBA Draft’s best prospect, it’s not even close. http://t.co/V6ex1USDs0 pic.twitter.com/MBiVkG4UA5 — SB Nation (@SBNation) June 19, 2015
If Towns had it his way, he apparently would have been a guard at Kentucky. Side note: He stands at 6-foot-11. And you know what? He probably would have been one of the best guards in the nation.
He is a man of no weaknesses and although we didn’t get to see him unleash all of his moves at the college level, it is only a matter of time before he is draining threes, posting up opposing players, scoring in every way imaginable and simply being solid at all things basketball … on both sides of the court.

The 2014-15 Wildcats were the most talented team we have seen in a very long time. Unfortunately, they ended up just short of their goal of a 40-0 season and finished at 38-1. For all it’s worth, Towns was the most talented player on perhaps the best team most eyes have ever gazed upon (seven Kentucky players entered this summer’s draft).
That is saying something.
First it was the No. 1 pick. Next it will be Rookie of the Year. After that it will be NBA All-Star and Towns will continue to climb the later from there — he is that talented, that gifted and filled with that much potential.
Somewhere Andrew Wiggins and the rest of the Timberwolves are smiling right about now.
Can you blame them?
