The Sacramento Kings already have their head coach (George Karl), and John Calipari is already in the perfect situation with the Kentucky Wildcats. Still, that has not stopped the Kings from pursuing Coach Cal.

This is all just a bit idiotic for a few reasons. (1) Karl was hired not too long ago (not to mention, he is a great coach). (2) Calipari already tried his luck in the NBA. (3) Calipari should return to a team that is ready to compete for a title tomorrow (if he is going to bolt for the pros). The Kings don’t really fall under that category. (4) Oh yeah, Coach Cal is already making a boatload of money, and did I mention he is in the perfect situation?
All signs point to crazy on this one. Calipari has had a massive amount of success at the college level — that is putting it lightly. He passed up the Cleveland Cavaliers job in the past and he should continue to pass up NBA gigs … unless he is put in the perfect situation, like Billy Donovan with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
As is the case with any offseason, the rumors are going to be swirling early and often.
Take it away, Calipari:
For the 100th time, I have the best basketball coaching position in the world. I am not looking for any other coaching position.
