If you’re a player in the NBA with a wife or girlfriend, you better watch out for former New York Knicks head coach Derek Fisher because there’s a good chance he’s after your girl.
Memphis Grizzlies forward Matt Barnes was famously suspended earlier this year after a physical altercation between he and Fisher erupted when Fisher was caught with Barnes’ ex-wife, Gloria Govan. Now, new reports are surfacing that Fisher may have been with the girlfriend of former Knicks and current Atlanta Hawks guard Tim Hardaway Jr. and it could explain why Hardaway Jr. was traded this offseason.
From ESPN reporter Brian Windhorst on his Wednesday edition of his TrueHoop podcast:
“Correct me if I’m wrong, Kevin [Arnovitz], but Tim Hardaway Jr. had to go on the record to discuss whether he and Derek Fisher were involved with the same woman. I’m fairly certain he had to go on the record and said he had to deal with that. So it wasn’t just Matt Barnes.”
Here’s a direct quote from Hardaway Jr. himself responding to the rumors surrounding his girlfriend and Fisher earlier this year:
“I’ve seen those. No reaction over here. I know all those are lies. They are going to do whatever they can, especially here in New York (with the media). So I am not even worried about that. I had a talk with my girlfriend. If you ask me, it is not true at all. I am completely positive with her judgment and what she said.”
Whether Hardaway Jr. believes his girlfriend or not is irrelevant. The important point here is that we have a pattern, and the more the subject is brought to the forefront, the more chance we’ll have of uncovering just how much of a scumbag Fisher really is.
