Washington Wizards Would Be Crazy To Trade John Wall At Deadline

As the trade deadline approaches, numerous articles are out there about how the Washington Wizards could better themselves for both this season and the future. Among them, there are a few with crazy ideas as to why Washington should trade John Wall away for assets that will help them years down the road. These are all blasphemous and should be ignored.

Ever since being drafted out of Kentucky with the first pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, Wall has been DC’s franchise player which cannot be ignored. He has grown with the city, and the city has grown around him. The Wizards cannot rid Washington of their best player when there is still so much basketball left to play.

Let’s not forget that coming into the season, the Wizards were supposed to be one of the Eastern Conference contenders to possibly challenge the Cleveland Cavaliers for a spot in the 2016 NBA Finals. All of this hype leading up to the season came because of all of the talent on the team’s roster, meaning everybody sees the sleeping giant ready to awaken. It would be foolish to blow up a team that has so much promise and potential.

Even if Washington were able to receive numerous first-round draft picks, there is no telling if they could even equate to the value Wall brings to the table. Keep in mind, the Wizards have a history of terrible selections, such as Chris Singleton and Jan Vesely, so the draft is far from a guarantee.

Instead of blowing up a roster that could still make some noise in the playoffs, Washington should look to trade away assets of their own to make a big move. Another star player on the roster would send the Wizards over the top and into contention for the conference title.

Wizards' Drew Gooden Turns Bizarre Possession Into And-One Chance

This has to go down as one of the strangest plays in the NBA this season. Washington's Drew Gooden throws a bad pass which bounces right back to him, and then manages to turn a feeble shot attempt into an and-one opportunity thanks to boneheaded defense from Derrick Favors. Sadly, Gooden missed the subsequent free-throw attempt.
