The Golden State Warriors recently lost their fifth game of the season to the Portland Trail Blazers, and this happened because Damian Lillard did his best impression of Stephen Curry by dropping 51 points and a lot of long three-pointers. You can check out the highlights of that performance below, and the Warriors face another tough test against the Los Angeles Clippers later tonight.
A career night for @Dame_Lillard.. putting up 51 points, 9 threes, 7 assists & 6 steals in @TrailBlazers 137-105 W!https://t.co/TXG1fJZ9vC

Golden State is apparently thinking about adding Anderson Varejao, and this would be a perfect fit on both sides. It could be ideal for the Warriors because of Festus Ezeli‘s recent knee surgery, and the Brazilian big man would help them keep their depth late in the season as they try to win more than 72 games.
This situation would be amazing for Varejao because of the revenge factor. The Cleveland Cavaliers dealt him to a team they knew would release him immediately, and the big man could exact some vengeance for that if there is a rematch of last season’s NBA Finals. The Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks are interested in Varejao as well, and it appears like this trade may have been a blessing in disguise for him.
“I have not been notified of that but it makes perfect sense, right?” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said to ESPN on Friday night about potentially picking up the big man. “I don’t even know, am I allowed to even mention his name? I can get fined by the NBA. I don’t even know what the rule is.”
Varejao has said that he wants the weekend to think things over, and he doesn’t even clear waivers until Sunday so that is great timing. He was a fan favorite in Cleveland for the last 12 seasons, and LeBron James, in particular, was a vocal supporter of the Brazilian. The Mavericks were reported to be in the hunt for David Lee, so it will be interesting to see if they drop out of that race to make a run at Varejao. But the smart money is on Varejao joining the defending champions, because a player doesn’t often get the chance to possibly be a part of history.
