By Chipper Murphy

The Chicago Bulls were once again hit hard with the injury bug, and any hopes they have at making a run at their longtime rivals in LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, are long gone. It’s time for the Bulls to take a good look at their future, and think about their identity going forward. This might be Jimmy Butler‘s team, but he is still playing in Derrick Rose‘s shadow. These are five guys who won’t be with the Bulls next season.

Taj Gibson is always the subject of trade rumors, and that didn't change this season. Chicago drafted Bobby Portis to be their power forward of the future, and Gibson is still a solid player who can fetch them assets in return.

4. Tony Snell

The Chicago media ripped into Tom Thibodeau for not playing Tony Snell during the 2014-15 playoffs. Maybe they should've realized that the brilliant head coach was right. Snell has had one of the worst offensive seasons of any player in the NBA, averaging 20.7 minutes, 5.3 points and 3.2 rebounds on 37.1 percent shooting.

3. Aaron Brooks

Aaron Brooks is on the last year of his deal, and has been a serviceable backup to Derrick Rose for the last two seasons, but he's 31-years-old and it's time for the Bulls to get younger at the position. Brooks' contract is expiring and if Chicago is lucky they will have a completely new point guard lineup in 2016-17.

2. Pau Gasol

Gasol did an interview saying that he will opt out of his contract, but that he prefers to remain in Chicago. If the Bulls are smart they will let Gasol, 35, walk. Signing him would be a win-now move, and the Bulls need to realize that they aren't that kind of team anymore.

1. Joakim Noah

Joakim Noah was out of Chicago the minute he was moved to the bench by new head coach Fred Hoiberg. It was a slap in the face to an excellent player who's given 110 percent since he was drafted by the Bulls in 2007. Noah struggled mightily right up until his shoulder injury that will sideline him for the rest of the season.
