The Houston Rockets aren’t living up to expectations this season after making the Western Conference finals last year. The players haven’t been as committed and the franchise isn’t as stable as last season (even with all of the injuries last year). Here are five players who won’t be on the Rockets due to various levels of dysfunction within the franchise.
5. Jason Terry

The only reason Terry returned to the Rockets is because he loves basketball. After what has been happening this season, that passion has surely waned. Terry has a ring already and has nothing to prove. He will leave the team and possibly retire.
4. Clint Capella

Capella has been a solid piece for the Rockets, but they need a trade piece and he's one of their only viable choices. Capella can defend and he has upside, two things the front office can sell to opposing general managers.
3. Josh Smith

Smith left the Rockets to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers, but he was traded back. He was playing well for a team, but he decided to test what he could get in free agency. This year there will be even more dollars and Smith will leave again.
2. Michael Beasley

Beasley played very well overseas, and he decided to try his luck in the NBA once more. Unfortunately for him, he hasn’t been focused enough or been able to play to his potential for long stretches. He won’t be back with the Rockets next season.
1. Dwight Howard

All the signs point to Howard leaving in the offseason. He hasn’t had the ball as much as he wanted, and there have been too many reports of him and James Harden not getting along. Howard will try to get more money than he is worth this free agency.
