The Golden State Warriors have been looking like an invincible team thus far in the season. But the team is only great because of their depth of good players. This offseason, there could be some minor changes that cause a major shakeup in the Warriors’ lineup. Here are five players who won’t be on the Warriors in the 2016-17 season.
5. James Michael McAdoo
Getty ImagesMcAdoo is a restricted free agent power forward. The Warriors have had big men in and out of the lineup this season, but McAdoo hasn’t been able to make his way into the rotation. He isn’t good enough to make it as the backup power forward.
4. Brandon Rush
Getty ImagesRush has been utilized more this season than last season, but he still doesn’t do anything that any other serviceable NBA player can’t already do. The Warriors will have a large number of defenders or shooters lining up to join the team.
3. Anderson Varejao
Getty ImagesVarejao was signed after he was waived following a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers. Varejao can provide energy, but Festus Ezeli already does that. Marreese Speights is also a better shooter so Varejao doesn’t have any long-term role on the team.
2. Leandro Barbosa
Getty ImagesWith the success the Warriors are likely to attain this season, Barbosa will try to cash in on it. He has won a Sixth Man of the Year award and he can still provide some offense to a team’s bench. Many suitors will come for him this offseason.
1. Harrison Barnes
Getty ImagesBarnes has been asking for a large deal and he will get it this offseason, but it won’t be with the Warriors. The Warriors aren’t going to put one player above the team and that is going to hurt them once Barnes leaves and gets his chance to shine.
