Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal could be the key to this squad getting a playoff spot. He recently missed three games with a sprained pelvis, and he was inserted back into the the starting lineup Monday against the Detroit Pistons. The Wizards beat Detroit 124-81, and Beal’s 12 points and five rebounds certainly helped the cause.
The shooting guard has been injured during a lot of his career, but he has shown in the playoffs that his contributions can be beneficial when healthy. He was also dealing with a stress reaction to his right leg earlier in the season.
He is averaging 17.7 points per game this year, and the Wizards are 2.5 games behind the Chicago Bulls for the Eastern Conference’s final playoff spot.
His postseason averages of 21.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game are impressive, and John Wall definitely appreciates having a shooter like Beal on the floor.
Wall might be the best player at attacking the paint not named LeBron James in the NBA, and it helps John for Beal to be on the wing punishing defenses. The Wizards probably should have fired Randy Wittman a long time ago, but he is somehow still holding on to his job.
They’ll need go on a winning streak to catch the Bulls for that last postseason berth, and it will be on Wall and Beal to make that happen. They certainly won’t be getting much advice from their head coach; however, maybe this crew has more left in the tank after a decent playoff run last season. Beal is the linchpin for the Wizards to be peaking at the right time. They’ll likely lose in the first round even if they squeak into the playoffs, but that would give them some additional experience to draw on in the future. Beal should be their main focus during this season’s last month.
