The New Orleans Pelicans had a disappointing season as Anthony Davis, Jrue Holiday, Tyreke Evans and Ryan Anderson all missed significant time due to injury. It spoiled the first season under head coach Alvin Gentry, brought in to build in on last season’s surprise playoff appearance. Still, these five positives can be taken away from the season that was.

It was one season, and an injury ravaged one at that. Alvin Gentry was the right hire to turn the offense around. When he has a healthy team, the results will change.

The Pelicans need more three-point shooters to complement Gentry's up-tempo style, because when they took them this season they made them at a 36 percent clip. That number was good for ninth in the NBA.

Despite playing at a fast pace, the Pelicans rarely made mistakes. They were sixth in the league in turnover percentage.

Anthony Davis, Omer Asik and Alexis Ajinca all had defensive rebound percentages of higher than 25 percent. The Pelicans were fourth in defensive rebound rate. If only they could've stopped teams more.
