During an appearance on ESPN’s ‘Russillo & Kanell‘ on Friday, TNT host and NBA Hall Of Famer Charles Barkley offered his two cents about what the MVP award should mean.
Barkley has seemingly gone out of his way to diminish Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry‘s achievements at times, so his opinion shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
“LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard are, to me, the two best players in the world. Steph Curry’s the best offensive player in the world. … [They’re] better all-around. If you actually watch the Warriors play, Klay Thompson always guards the best guard. That’s not a knock. Larry Bird wasn’t a great defender, Magic Johnson wasn’t a great defender. But they’re still probably two of the 10 greatest players ever. Steph is amazing, and that’s not hating on him.”
Curry certainly isn’t the greatest defender in the world, but no player makes a bigger impact on a game than he does. All of this noise is just that — noise.
