The Cleveland Cavaliers have yet to lose a game in the Eastern Conference Playoffs as they prepare for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday night. LeBron James and Tyronn Lue have this team playing its basketball of the season, and it looks to be LeBron’s best chance to deliver a championship to Cleveland.
Things could turn bittersweet for Cavaliers fans if LeBron and the Cavaliers are able to win their first championship in franchise history. According to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, LeBron could be headed back to South Beach to join the Miami Heat if the Cavaliers win in the NBA Finals.
“They (Miami Heat) expect to have in excess of $30 million in cap space, $30 million-plus in this offseason. They are going to chase Kevin Durant unless the Cavaliers win in the Finals and LeBron James decides he wants to move on and possibly come back to Miami. They are going to take care of those priorities first. Obviously, they’re going to try to re-sign Hassan Whiteside, but Dwyane Wade is clearly in their plans.”
This report makes perfect sense as LeBron loves playing with his best friend Wade, and the only reason he chose to come back to Cleveland was to deliver a championship to his home city. If he’s able to do that, and then chooses to return to Miami, then no one should be able to criticize him because he delivered on his promise.
