The Washington Wizards have high hopes that they can lure a hometown star back home, but they will also have their work cut out for them to bring back their young shooting guard as well. Management will have to get clever to potentially add more cap space, or convince players to take a discount. There will be tough decisions to make on who they choose to pursue, and timing could be everything.
Point Guard - John Wall
Getty ImagesWall is the face of the franchise, and the young point guard is still growing as a player. He is one of the fastest players with the ball in his hands and is slowly developing an outside shot to keep defenders honest.
Shooting Guard - Bradley Beal
Getty ImagesBeal could be a wild card, as the organization will unlikely be able to afford him and sign a superstar free agent. However, they could convince Beal to take a short, prove it deal, with the hope that he could cash in when the cap increases again.
Small Forward - Kevin Durant
Getty ImagesIt is unclear what Durant plans to do this offseason, but he will certainly want to go somewhere he can win right away. The Wizards have a lot of young talent, but affording Durant will be tough if they choose to keep other players.
Power Forward - Markieff Morris
Getty ImagesMorris is a good player when he can stay focused, and he can help this team compete for the playoffs next season.
Center - Marcin Gortat
Getty ImagesGortat is a good screen and roll partner for Wall and gives the team size in the paint. He is very efficient on the offensive side, and the team will expect another good year from him.
