After Rodney Stuckey went down with an injury, most expected the Indiana Pacers to sign a free agent to take his place.
Very few anticipated, however, that the free agent they would sign would be the mercurial Lance Stephenson.
Indiana Pacers, Lance Stephenson agree to 3-year, $12 million deal, league sources tell ESPN. First two guaranteed. Team option on third.

The Pacers’ heyday with Stephenson was something to behold, with him and Paul George giving the Miami Heat all they could handle in the playoffs, but he was a free agent for a reason.
George told the Indianapolis Star:
“Lance is a ball player and he’s a guy that fits right in. I think one area that we need and we’re lacking is a shot creator and a playmaker (in the second unit) and you’ve got a guy that can do both of those.”
Maybe this is a move to unnerve LeBron James in his new home with the Cleveland Cavaliers, as the Pacers would play the Cavs if the postseason started today.
