In a deal that had been rumored over the past few days, the Philadelphia 76ers made the leap up to No. 1 in the 2017 NBA Draft via trade with the Boston Celtics in order to select Markelle Fultz.
This swap will give Boston the No. 3 pick from Philly as well as a future first-round pick in either 2018 or 2019.
But the main story here is Fultz heading to the Sixers, and the former Washington star was pumped to hear the news.
Being from Maryland originally, this deal will get Fultz close to home for his professional career and perhaps add an extra layer of comfort to the exchange.
If this trade helps the Sixers finally become relevant again after a years of tanking, there’s no doubt it will be a worthwhile endeavor.
