After much was made about Isaiah Thomas‘ bum hip potentially derailing the blockbuster trade that sent Kyrie Irving from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Boston Celtics, the Cavs ultimately settled for just an additional second-round pick to make the deal become reality.
So the game of chicken between these two teams turned out to be a bunch of hollow threats, with the only price to be paid being a 2020 pick of a kid who is probably a high school junior today.
It was much ado about nothing, sure, but what this ordeal really exposed was the Cavs’ desire to purge Kyrie at any cost.
Now, it remains to be seen if their need to be rid of an All-Star point guard was really worth all of the hassle.
