Drew Gordon, Former NBA Player, Dead at 33 in Car Crash
Drew Gordon, the former NBA player and sibling of Aaron Gordon, died at the age of 33 in a car accident. His death has left Denver Nuggets players and their fans deeply saddened.
On Thursday May 30th, Denver Nuggets posted a black-and-white photograph (it was once tweeted) on the X post which showed the hands of both brothers dealing with opposite directions. The epitaph read:
“The Denver Nuggets organization is devastated to learn about the tragic passing of Drew Gordon. Drew was far too young to leave this world, but his legacy will forever live on through his three beautiful children and all of his loved ones”.
According to ESPN, Drew’s agent Calvin Andrews said that the ex-basketball player died after being involved in a car crash last Thursday May 30th in Portland, Oregon.
The UCLA Bruins men’s basketball team was where Drew began his college ball career. He later moved to the University of New Mexico for his junior year and joined the Lobos Men’s Basketball team. While as a Lobo, drew scored an average of at least 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds per game.
However, Drew did not get picked in the 2012 NBA draft but he had a successful professional basketball career.
His profession additionally included periods in France, Italy, Turkey, Serbia, Lithuania, Japan, Russia, Ukraine and Poland. He also appeared for Philadelphia 76ers during the NBA season of 2014-15 playing nine games.
After his tenure with the 76ers, Drew continued to play professional basketball for nearly ten years and most of them were spent overseas. In France in 2015, he was named an All-Star before retiring in 2023.
