After 14 seasons in charge, Mississippi State head coach Rick Stansbury abruptly “retired” last week.
Now, the Bulldogs’ program is looking for a new head man, and Murray State’s Steve Prohm appears to be the early target.
According to this CBSSports.com article, sources have indicated that Mississippi State has made initial contract with Prohm and Murray State in an effort to move forward with discussions.
Prohm’s Racers were eliminated in the Round of 32 this past weekend by Marquette, and despite having just one season of heading coaching experience, Prohm has emerged as one of the next hot names in coaching.
Murray State finished this past year at 31-2 overall.
Things remain unclear at this time on whether or not Prohm is fully interested in the Mississippi State opening, but for now sources continue to hint that Prohm is the school’s top target.
