Besides the annual bracket-busting NCAA Tournament in March, early season tournaments may be the most exciting aspect of the College Basketball season. Fortunately for CAA Basketball fans, there will be plenty of excitement to go around as 10 of 11 teams in the conference are set to compete in early season competition. CAA Correspondent, Jake Fischer, will be previewing all 10 teams’ chances to compete in their respective early season competitions.
The Delaware Blue Hens are schedule to participate in the NIT Season Tip-Off this November.
Delaware is one of the sixteen teams in the tournaments field along with Kansas (Big 12), Michigan (Big Ten), Pittsburgh (Big East), Virginia (ACC) Alabama-Huntsville (DII, Gulf South), Bowling Green (Mid-American), Cleveland State (Horizon), Fairfield (MAAC), Fordham (A-10), IUPUI (Summit), Lamar (Southland), Lehigh (Patriot), North Texas (Sun Belt), Penn (Ivy) and Robert Morris (Northeast).
The Tournament’s format is composed of three rounds: a Regional Round, Semifinal Round and Championship Round. The Jayhwaks, Panthers, Cavaliers and Wolverines will be hosting the Regional Rounds.
Delaware will open against Penn in the South Region and play either the winner or loser of the Virginia/Fairfield contest depending on Delaware’s result. If Delaware can with the South, they will represent their region in New York City in the Semifinals and maybe even the Championship game.
Expect Delaware under head coach Monte Ross and led by Jamelle Hagins, Devon Saddler and Javaris Threatt to compete for the South Region Crown.
