Just days after landing JUCO transfer Chris Jones, Louisville head coach Rick Pitino have added 6-foot-9 power forward Akoy Agau.
Agau, an original native of Sudan, currently attends Omaha Central H.S. (NE), and is widely considered as one of the more on-the-rise prospects from the senior class.
Agau is now off the board and headed to the Cardinals, joining Jones in addition to Terry Rozier and Anton Gill for next season.
Omaha Central is the three-time defending state champions in Nebraska and Agau has molded into one of the key components within that program. Agau will spend his final season in Omaha before joining his new Louisville teammates for the 2013-14 season.
Fresh off a visit to the school’s campus, Agau committed just three days following his visit. Agau joined Jones, the nation’s top junior college prospect, in Louisville and now Pitino has landed commitments from both.
The Cardinals’ recruiting class continues to rise up the rankings, moving up to No. 2 overall according to Scout.com.
ESPN lists Agau as the 81st overall prospect within the class of 2013, while Rivals pins him at No. 83. The offers were aplenty for Agau throughout his recruitment, and his selection comes after consideration from a number of top programs.
Louisville has found much success down low with forward Gorgui Dieng in recent years, and Agau could be a replica of the current junior. Agau will be able to learn behind Dieng next season, assuming he returns to Louisville next year for his senior season.
Agau ran with Team Nebraska during his time on the AAU circuit.
