Billy Gillispie has been surrounded by controversy everywhere that he has gone. After the latest allegations at Texas Tech, he finds himself out of a job. Not exactly shocking, but it is still interesting to see it take place.

This move is absolutely the right move. Gillispie has alienated his team and the entire school when you think about it. His intensity has morphed into something much more sinister. I could break down all the weird things that he has done at school, but that would take way too much time.
Actually, I would not be surprised if this thing does not end up dragging out. He will probably want a nice settlement and there might be some players who want some retribution from him. If you make players practice enough that they end up out for the season, there are probably some issues there.
This will certainly be interesting to follow. I will not be surprised if Gillispie ends never coaching again. He might be able to succeed somewhere else but his reputation is tainted. Tainted might not even be a strong enough word to describe it. His rep is more or less napalmed as a top level basketball coach.
Now the search for a new coach is going to happen. Needless to say, I do not expect mass transfers over this release. In fact, players might throw a party.
