Simply put, the Big Ten Conference has some of the best power forwards in all of college basketball, or that is at least the case for these three studs.
You will be hearing these three names all season long, so you better get use to them.
Trevor Mbakwe, Minnesota- Mbakwe will be entering his sixth season in college basketball, thanks to transferring from Marquette, what seems to be 10 years ago, and then tearing his ACL early last season. Well, if Mbakwe is healthy, he will easily be one of the best players in the country, let alone the conference. In the time that he did play last season, Mbakwe averaged 14 points per game and 9.1 rebounds per game. The Gophers are going to expect a lot out of Mbawke and so should everyone else.
Christian Watford, Indiana- As a senior, Watford is going to be a big reason why the Hoosiers make it so far in the upcoming season. Yes, Cody Zeller is good, but so is Watford. Just two seasons ago, Watford was putting up 16 points per game, but he had a decline last season (12.6 PPG), thanks to Indiana having so many options on the court. He may play at the power forward position, but you will see the big guy knocking down threes from time to time. In fact, he was 43.7 percent from behind the arc all of last season.
Deshaun Thomas, Ohio State- Jared Sullinger was obviously a great player for the Buckeyes, but with him gone, expect Thomas to go off. During the regular season last year, Thomas averaged 15.9 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per game, but then the NCAA tournmanet rolled around, where Thomas improved those numbers to 19.2 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game. This will be Thomas’ team and he will dominate all season long.
