Big Ten: Top Three Freshmen

Mike Carter-US Presswire

The Big Ten has some very talented freshmen coming in for the 2012-13 season.  There are five Big Ten teams in Rival’s top 28 recruiting classes.  Indiana and Michigan are fifth and seventh respectively.  Here rare a look at the top three freshmen coming into the conference.

#3 Kevin Ferrell-Indiana

Ferrell is a small and quick point guard form Indianapolis.  Rival’s has him as a five star recruit, ranked 19th in the nation.  As a senior, Ferrell averaged an incredible twelve assists per game while leading his team to a state championship.  He was also a McDonald’s All-American.  As a freshman Ferrell should see a ton of minutes at Indiana. Her is extremely quick and is able to distribute the ball well.  He can help Indiana’s offense be extremely dynamic alongside Cody Zeller, Victor Oladipo and Christian Watford.

#2 Glenn Robinson III- Michigan

Robinson III,a 6-6ft forward from Indiana is one of the best talents to go to Michigan since the “Fab Five”.  The athletic forward has continuously risen in recruiting ranking since he committed to Michigan in 2010 by improving his game tremendously.  His father, Glenn Robinson,  was a two-time NBA All-Star who played at Purdue.  This makes him the third Michigan player with a father who played in the NBA, along with Tim Hardaway Jr, and Jon Horford.  Regardless of his family history, Robinson III can straight up play.  He has a terrific offensive game, and has added muscle the last couple of years.  Along with Hardaway and Burke he should be able to lead Michigan to great things.

#1 Gary Harris- Michigan State

After the loss of Draymond Green Michigan State has another fantastic player.  Harris is an outstanding player and was a McDonalds All- American.  Harris, who is best at shooting guard, will join a back-court that includes veteran Kieth Appling.  He can take over the primary scoring load alongside Appling.  He is a good shooter who is also very athletic, allowing him to attack the rim. Also, Spartan fans will be very entertained with Harris’s ability to make incredible dunks, as he showed in high school.
