Earning That Auto Bid Won't Be Easy For Ohio Bobcats

We all remember D.J. Cooper and the Ohio Bobcats from last year, who upset the Michigan Wolverines in the very first round. As a No. 13 seed, the Bobcats made it to the Sweet 16 last year, but it will not be easy for them to earn that auto bid this year, let alone go on a Cinderella run like it did last season.

Assuming that both Ohio and Akron make it to the MAC tournament championship, the Bobcats will have to do something that they have not done the entire year and that is beat Akron.

Ohio has lost to Akron twice this year, including a recent matchup at home in overtime.

The only way Ohio can dance once again is if it earns that auto bid by winning the MAC tournament, but Akron will be the favorite if these two teams meet up in the championship game.

There was nothing quite like Cooper and fellow Bobcat Walter Offutt going off for 20-point performances in last year’s NCAA tournament and it would be a shame if this team did not get a chance to take down the best in college basketball this season.

In case you forgot, Ohio came up just short against No. 1 seed North Carolina last year in overtime. That game would have pushed the Bobcats into the Elite Eight.

Well, if the Bobcats can win the MAC then maybe we will see some more Cinderella magic this year. However, earning those pair of slippers will not be an easy feat.
