Phil Pressey and the Missouri Tigers did not have as good as a season as many people thought they would, but Pressey will be declaring for the 2013 NBA Draft regardless. Is Pressey making the right decision?
Pressey did not perform like one of the best point guards in college basketball this season, however, he was one of the most talented point guards.
He averaged 11.9 points per game and 7.1 assists per game. For standing at 5’11”, it was pretty impressive that he was able to average 3.3 rebounds per game.
Missouri was just not as good as they were last season. They lost a lot of good players, yet they were not supposed to skip a beat. This likely decreased Pressey’s draft stock, but he is still one of the best pure point guards in the draft.
Pressey could certainly come back and have a great senior year with Missouri, but I do not blame him one bit for wanting to go pro after the disappointing season that his team had. If he did come back next season, he could definitely raise his draft stock with a great year, but we will never know if that would have been the case.
His decision is to enter the draft and we have to honor that. Talent wise, Pressey is just as ready as anyone for the next level. He will get drafted and his skill set suggests that he will be successful at the next level.
