Oklahoma State Cowboys Have Talent To Win Big 12

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

The 2013-14 college basketball season may seem light years away, but with Oklahoma State Cowboys’ Big Three coming back, they could very easily win the Big 12 Conference next season.

However, they will have to get through Kansas, who seems to be ranked in the top 10 every single year. The Cowboys did only finish one game back of first place in the Big 12 standings this year though.

The Cowboys had a great season, and luckily, Le’Bryan Nash, Markel Brown and Marcus Smart will be back for another year. All three of these players on the same team is very deadly.

Smart could have easily been drafted in the top 10 this year if he went pro and Brown and Nash have been great. In his freshman season, Smart put up 15.4 points per game, 5.8 rebounds per game and 4.2 assists per game. Brown will be playing in his final year with the team and his 15.3 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game were pretty impressive and should not go overlooked just because Smart is a future top 10 pick. Nash will be playing in his junior year and he scored 14 points per game and grabbed 4.1 rebounds per game.

Kansas will challenge for a Big 12 title, since they always do and who knows how Kansas State will be. The regular season is so far away and so much can happen now until then, but Oklahoma State has to like its chances in the near future.

With one more year together, these players will be that much better. All three of them know how to score the basketball and can go off at any given moment. Smart is the most talented out of the three, but no one should or will take Brown and Nash lightly. Just with these three players alone, Oklahoma State could very easily win the Big 12 title next season.
