This Past Season Will Be Hard To Duplicate For La Salle Explorers

The La Salle Explorers made the Sweet 16 in the 2013 NCAA Tournament as a No. 13 seed. With that said, this past season will be hard for the Explorers to duplicate in the 2013-14 college basketball season.

First off, this was the first time that La Salle made the tourney since 1992.

Its 24 wins on the season was huge for this program and hopefully that will be a sign of good things to come for a long time. Luckily, head coach John Giannini was signed to a contract extension.

La Salle had a great regular season, but a deep run in the dance did not seem likely. The Explorers had to play a play-in game against Boise State, but ended up winning that contest. Then, the Explorers had to play the No. 4 Kansas State Wildcats. They won by the skin of their tail in this one, but a win is a win in the tourney.

La Salle then took on a very pesky Ole Miss Rebels team, and once again just barely escaped. Unfortunately, that is where La Salle’s run would end. It lost in the Sweet 16 to Wichita State, which is a team that went on to play in the Final Four.

Although it would have been great to see the Explorers make it farther, they accomplished so much in this year’s Big Dance. Entering the season, not many people could have predicted this team to make a Sweet 16 run, but they did anyways.

Another season like this in the near future will not be easy, but it will also not be impossible.
